breakthrough.

Sometimes it seems like Claire gets the short end of the stick since Ezra and Audrey require so much of me. I look forward to the kids' bedtime because Claire can recieve my undivided attention. We've been giving her a nightly bath to give her some routine which she enjoys. Corey gave her her bath tonight and I lotioned her up and took her upstairs. Usually I feed her and then rock her but tonight, I put her in the cradle while she was drowsy but still awake. I rocked her, sang a song, and rocked her some more. Finally I decided to get myself ready for bed. When I came back in a few minutes later, she was asleep! This is huge for me! I usually nursed our other babies to sleep, many times each night. I've always admired (and envied) mothers who could set their babies down and they would just fall asleep. I wasn't sure how they taught their babies to do that without a lot of crying, but it looks like it can be done without crying. Maybe just consistency and patience? Hopefully this will become a regular thing for her. And now, I'm going to take advantage of this and go to bed! Goodnight!

I've always put my kids to bed sleepy but not asleep. Mason protested the most, then Cooper, but Shiloh has never protested. Never cried when put down (with the exception of teething). I think the third is just so used to not being held all the time so being put to bed while still awake is nothing to them. They probably enjoy the quiet time that comes when they are put to bed. No big brother or sister to bug them.

Wow! That's fantastic! I need more discipline putting Pearce down like that... But I feel like it's too late to teach this old dog a new trick! Congrats! Did she do good again last night?
